Our mission is to help young people to set goals, surpass them, and achieve excellence through the practice of classical music.
Changing Young Lives
Philharmonia, conducted by Maestro Jorge Peña, is an auditioned top orchestra for area musicians ages 12-21. This performing orchestra contains strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion.
The orchestra performs three concerts a year – Winter and Spring Concerts and the Fall Fundraising Recital.
This orchestra plays classical and pops music at Level 4 and up.
Students are expected to practice daily.
Students rehearse Mondays from 5:30-8:00PM during the school year.
Students are also expected to attend sectionals each semester and attend Orchestra Summer Camp in July.
All members re-audition each summer.
In January/February, we hold auditions for open slots.
Students will play two scales and then the audition excerpts.
Musicians will be asked to play two scales and excerpts from provided music.
Auditions for Summer Camp are held in May.

PAYING MUSICIAN FEES
Philharmonia Musician Fees are $65 for the season (fall & spring) and $35 for mid-term auditions (spring only.)

Cash or check payments may be made at rehearsal. Make check payable to GIYO.
No musician will be denied a place due to the inability to pay the fee. Please contact the orchestra general manager for a waiver.
